Notes:

I am missing this sheet, with the full details of the two people present in this residence on the night of 6 Apr 1901

Revd Dr Patrick O'Donnell was born in Kilrean Upper, Killybegs Lower, 28 Nov 1855, a son of Daniel O'Donnell & his wife Mary Breslin - see 1901 census Kilrean Upper

He was appointed Bishop, the youngest in the world, in 1888, and consecrated by Cardinal Logue on 3rd April in Letterkenny. He became Archbishop of Armagh on the 19 December, 1924,

and was created Cardinal on the 14 December, 1925. Cardinal O'Donnell died on the 22 October 1927, and was buried in St Patrick's Cemetery, Armagh.  His episcopal motto was

'In Hoc Signo Vinces' - By this Sign (Cross) you shall conquer - see Biography and information

In 2008 a book was published, which highlights the achievements of Cardinal O'Donnell during a very turbulent period in Irish history - 'Cardinal Patrick O'Donnell 1856-1927', Pádraig S Ó Baoighill

Notes:

Bishop Patrick McGettigan (born c1785 in Kilmacrenan, died 1 May 1861) invited in a colony of the Loreto Nuns of Rathfarnham in 1854, making over to them his own house for a Convent and

a boarding and day school for young ladies.

The outlook at the time was this was going to be a dismal and immediate failure but, 'from the first day of its opening, the boarding school realised the most sanguine expectations,

and ever since, though a lean year occasionally intervened, it can be safely asserted that few institutions of its kind have enjoyed a more uniform and unruffled career.' (Letterkenny, Past

and Present), Canon Maguire, 1917
