This event occasioned a great joy to the worthy Baronet's numerous tenantry, to which they gave expression in bonfires and illuminations. The town of Ramelton, in particular, was splendidly illuminated, tar barrels were to be seen disturbing the reign of night in every quarter, and an amateur band perambulated the streets till a late hour, and played a variety of airs in excellent style

The ceremony performed, they were escorted home by hundreds of the youth of Ramelton, and by an amateur band, who performed a variety of lively tunes. It is anticipated that this example will not be lost on the bachelors of that neighbourhood, but will shame them out of their single misery – misery it is, aye is it
