On Wednesday last, a man named McGROARTY, from Carrowkeel whilst returning from Letterkenny called into a public house owned by a MR DUFFY, and had a glass of whiskey. He subsequently continued his journey home, when about a mile from the public house, found that he was unable to continue. He was taken into a nearby house where whilst being attended to by DR THORP, he died. An inquest jury returned the verdict that he "died from disease of the heart"

An inquest was held on Saturday last at Letterkenny by Dr. Long, Coroner, into the death of SAMUEL COULTER, aged eight years, son of MR JAMES COULTER, clerk to the County Inspector. The child had retired, in good health, on Thursday evening, at about midnight he was seized with a violent retching which continued until six o'clock on the following evening when he died. F.T. PORTER, ESQ., L.R.C.S.I., who had attended the boy, stated in evidence that death had been caused by the purpuric fever know as "Black Death", and that death had been accelerated by the too free use of sweets and unripe fruit. A verdict was arrived at in accordance with the facts

The Jury returned the following verdict: "We find that the deceased Patrick Coyle, on the 21st day of July, 1867, at Letterkenny Asylum, in the Parish of Conwall, and county of Donegal, died from the effects of a wound inflicted by himself with a razor, on the 15th day of July 1867, whilst of unsound mind."
