This is an altar that was set up at the lower end of the Main Street for the Eucharistic Congress in 1932. It was located outside Frank Kernan's and Coyle's houses.  There was a gathering in the evening for Rosary and a windup music box belonging to Nurse Dolan played the Bells of the Angelus for some youngsters - it was their first taste of recorded music.  My Grandmother Eileen McLaughlin was there together with her neighbours the Doran's, to name but a few; they were children at time.

I can remember them recalling this with great fondness

A photo of Ann Meehan married to Neal Patton taken at a house that Neal built

at Magherabeg in the 1920s

The house is still there today and hasn't changed very much.  I like this picture because it gives an insight into the day to day

Ann Patton died in 1936 and is buried in Old Ray Graveyard with her husband Neal
