Families

James O’Brien and wife Mary Harkin, Killult, were the parents of Patrick O’Brien who, with his new bride, the former Bridget McFadden, emigrated to Rockhampton, Australia, aboard the “Ravenscrag” in 1883.  Patrick was born at Killult on 14 March 1860.  Patrick and Bridget married in the Church of St Patrick, Murlog, Lifford, Co. Donegal, on 12 October 1882 (Bridget’s 22nd birthday) and there was a William O’Brien who could have been a brother of Patrick’s.  Patrick and Bridget had nine children in Australia.
